The Camilla Rotary participated in the Downtown Camilla Chili Cookoff. We placed third in the event. There were probably 150-200 people that came through the area and we had our banners up and talked about Rotary.
On this date we constructed a Pergola at the tennis complex in Camilla. We partnered with the Camilla Tennis Association, Rotary Club of Pelham, the District Governor, and the Georgia International Students.
To purchase a bag and essential products to put together a "To Go" kit for the Department of Family and Children Services to have available for children taken out of homes and placed into foster care. We have heard of children not having any essential products when they are removed. This also provides the foster parents with essential products when they receive the children. We packed and delivered 40 bags to the Mitchell County DFCS Office.
The Camilla Rotary Club with the help of the District Governor and the Georgia Rotary International students installed a Peace Pole at the Desoto Trails Regional Library in Camilla.
This was the Camilla Rotary annual fund raiser. We support a local organization every year. This year's recipient was the Mitchell Baker Service Center. The Club hosted a casino night with a band for entertainment. We were able to raise over $14,5oo.00 dollars. We also had a 50/50 raffle to support our local library which netted them a minimum of $1050.00 but that could double. We are able to donate $10,000.00 to the Mitchell County Service Center.
The Rotary Club of Camilla hosted our annual fund raiser event where we give proceeds to a local non-profit organization. This year we sponsored the Mitchell Baker Service Center. We also did a 50/50 raffle to support the Desoto Trails Friends of the Library.
Camilla Rotary gave $1000.00 to the travel expenses for the 12 U recreation football team to go to the state tournament. this allowed te kids and the parents to travel and stay overnight. This was a joint venture with other businesses and individuals. The kids finished 2nd in the state.
Camilla Rotarians spent time searching for and purchasing items for a summer Bucket for Foster Kids in Mitchell County.
